‘Kupamcho Daryeo’ Sweeps Goa State Film Festival

Panaji : Kupamcho Daryeo, a Konkani short film produced by Sahit Prakashan, made history at the 11th Goa State Film Festival by winning all six awards in the Non-Feature Film category, a rare clean sweep that has the local film scene buzzing.

The film picked up:
Best Non-Feature Film
Best Theme
Best Music
and Special Jury Mentions for Best Sound Design, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing

The awards were presented at a ceremony held at Kala Akademi by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Entertainment Society of Goa Vice-President Delilah Lobo, and BJP State President Damu Naik.

Originally premiered at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in 2021 under the ‘Goan Stories’ section, Kupamcho Daryeo has since made its way through national and international film festivals. But this win on home ground holds special meaning for the creators.

“This award feels personal. It’s recognition from our own people, and that hits differently,” said Kishor Arjun, writer and producer of the Film.

The Short film is directed by Himanshu Singh, and stars Raavi Kishor and Ugam Zambaulikar. The technical team includes Ashwin Chide (Cinematography), Gopal Sudhakar (Editing), Daulat Palyekar (Music), and Bhavesh Phulari (Sound Design). It draws from a poem by acclaimed Konkani writer Uday Bhembre, and Lyrics by Kishor Arjun with original music by Daulat.

The screening at Maquinez Palace on August 17 received an enthusiastic response from the audience.

Kupamcho Daryeo’s success isn’t just a win for the team, it’s a major moment for Konkani cinema and proof that regional storytelling still hits hard.
